Review Of Lipozene Weight Loss Supplement
Lipozene is the newest weight-loss pill from Obesity Research Institute LLC, which promises weight-loss without any effort.
Lipozene is also considered what you would call a seen-on-TV product, which are usually lacking scientific evidence and are often scams.
When searched in virtually any search engine on the net, hundreds of comments can be found by disgruntled purchasers of this, and many of the other Obesity Research Institute Products.
So What Makes Up This Weight Loss Supplement
The sole ingredient of this weight loss supplement is Glucomannan. Derived from the konjac root, glucomannan is an un-absorbable polysaccharide. Several clinical studies have found evidence of glucomannan's ability to lower LDL cholesterol, blood lipid and blood sugar levels.
There also seems to be some preliminary evidence that 1 gram of glucomannan – taken with 8 oz. of water one hour prior to meals – has an influence on weight loss. Vitamin supplements are suggested if using Lipozene or any other with this ingredient since glucomannan may bind with and hinder the absorption of certain nutrients.
Although glucomannan has some studies backing its weight loss potential, it basically acts as a fiber supplement. Fiber helps you lose weight, improves regularity and can even lower cholesterol levels.
It has even been suggested by Nancy Howarth, a nutritionist from Tuft's University in Boston, that people who add an extra 14 grams of fiber to their diet per day could expect to lose up to 4 pounds and decrease food intake by 10% in 4 months. Fiber tends to fill you up faster and keeps you feeling full longer.
Best of all, adding fiber to your diet is actually a very simple task. All you need is to add a serving of Kellogg's All Bran to your daily routine, or by taking a fiber supplement.
The typical low-quality North American diet does not contain nearly enough fiber, as the average North American consumes 15 grams of fiber daily – 10 grams less than the minimum recommended amount of 25 grams.
Adding fiber to your diet is definitely one of the most simple and effective ways to improve your diet, weight, and overall health.
So What Does It All Mean
Although its main ingredient acts as a simple fiber substitute, there are several problems with this product.
The maker of Lipozene, Obesity Research Institute LLC, has a big credibility problem. For making false and unsubstantiated claims, they've been charged by the Federal Trade Commission and forced to pay $1.5 million in customer redress.
This ordeal was over their products FiberThin and Propolene, which are both based on the ingredient glucomannan. This does not bode well for the effectiveness of Lipozene. The Federal Trade Commission posted a press release on their website found here: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2005/06/fiberthin.shtm
Fiber is a very useful supplement, but its effects are best seen over a long term. It's very easy and quite cheap to add fiber to your diet, without forking over an arm and a leg for products like Lipozene.
Eat more green, leafy vegetables, add a serving of high-fiber cereal to your breakfast, or take a regular fiber supplement. Any of these choices are less expensive and much more effective than anything Lipozene can promise.
