Bowflex In Review
The Bowflex is a compact and versatile weight training machine, that can really carve off some of those excess pounds.
Instead of using real weights, the Bowflex works on the ideal of resistance.
Bowflex's innovative design not only avoids having to own a collection of various sized dumbbells, but also combines several machines into one.
Although it has a few flaws, it will keep you fit and healthy and looking great.
Why Is Weight Training Important For Weight Loss
You're trying to lose weight, and you are wondering why weight training is important. For a fast slim down that stays slim, two types of exercise are integral: aerobic and weight training. Dieters frequently neglect weight training, unaware of its weight loss benefits. Weight training raises your metabolism.
But how? If you weight train, you gain muscle. Each pound of muscle burns 50 calories a day, compared to a pound of fat at 2 calories a day. Therefore, the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism.
Furthermore, weight training strengthens your bones and connective tissues, leading to better health and fitness in the long run.
How Does Bowflex Actually Work?
You use it just like any other weight training machine. You select a weight, up to 310 pounds, and you slip your fingers into comfortable handles. However, instead of dragging up weights, you are trying to bend tough, inflexible rods. This makes the machine lighter, and easier to move around.
There are many versions of the Bowflex available, depending on your needs. For instance, if you don't plan to pull a lot of weight, the Bowflex PR1000 would be ideal for you. If you live in a small apartment, you may wish to purchase the more compact versions, such as the PR3000.
With most models, you can increase the weight by a 100 pound upgrade. For sustained and healthy weight loss, you don't need more than 200 pounds.
Bowflex has the added advantage of being able to work out all your muscles. Your abs, your quads, your triceps—with proper weight training, you can target these problem areas. Instead of just shedding the fat, gain some muscle!
If you diet and jog, maybe you'll lose the beer belly, but you won't get your washboard. Tone it up with the Bowflex, and show it off.
The machine comes with a DVD, containing 35 to 90 different exercises. Having someone show you the exercises is much less confusing than reading written instructions, or examining still diagrams. Seeing a professional trainer do the exercises is safer, and more effective.
You should consider everything with a grain of salt, and the Bowflex is no exception. Certainly, it is very expensive. A Bowflex machine can cost you anywhere from $600 to $1200. Compare this to a $20 stretch cord, with which you could probably weight train with the same effectiveness. If you're feeling the pinch, forgo the Bowflex.
You also have to remember that the Bowflex weight trains. That's it, you will have to regulate your diet yourself. Although increased musculature from the weight training will potentially lead to a raised metabolism, a cardiovascular workout is needed to really burn off calories.
But nothing is perfect, and the Bowflex machine is close enough. It is compact and light, which makes it perfect for home use. Bowflex combines several gym machines into one, so no need to clutter up an entire room. It completely changes the way you exercise. Unlike its polymer rods, the Bowflex is truly flexible.

Nice, I think the Bowflex is a good product overall, but if you don't diet properly you won't see results, especially around your abs. Gotta cut out the empty carbs!
